Wide-eyed wanderings in the Mission yesterday as blackouts, film sets, closed streets and a suicide threat added disruptions and shivers to a chilly day.

Thrift Town was left in the dark. And now Baobab Village is shrinking.

Maybe we should return to appeasing the gods in the run up to Samhain rather than fretting about what dark or delirious dress to parade around in.

Back to Baobab, the owner will soon relinquish Bissap Baobab, the Mission’s original Senegalese dining hotspot, but the inspired feasts and rhythms move just around the corner to the owner’s two other locations. After dinner, which will soon be served buffet-family style at Little Baobab, you’ll still be able to head next door for your sugar. The sweaty Afro-Caribbean dance parties will continue apace at Baobab affiliate Bollyhood Café.

A Mediterranean restaurant is moving into the old Baobab, which of course means, more pizza … !
